“I typically bring my DSLR with me everywhere I go and rarely take photos with my phone. I will bring it with me even while I’m out running errands. It’s a part of me and what I love to do, which is document my family’s life,” says Meg Loek (@Meg_Nlo)…
Meg Loek (or Meg_Nlo), 31, lives outside of Grand Rapids, Michigan with her husband Bill, and three boys: Leo, five, Woody, two, and Archie, one. She’s a full time photographer working from home.
Our mornings are … my favorite part of the day. They are typically chaotic until we are outside. We usually spend part of our morning exploring and hiking.
My kids mainly wear … I love to buy simple, timeless clothing. I gravitate towards anything vintage and love to shop for my boys at consignment shops, H&M and Zara. My younger two boys typically receive hand-me-downs from their older brother.
I cope with clutter by … donating items that we no longer need. I try to go through our closets a couple times a year and purge whatever hasn’t been used or worn much over the past year.
I never leave the house without … my camera. I typically bring my DSLR with me everywhere I go and rarely take photos with my phone. I will bring it with me even while I’m out running errands. It’s a part of me in many ways and what I love to do, which is document my family’s life.
When no one’s looking I … try and take short power naps! I have a hard time getting a legitimate nap in these days but I often sneak in 10-15 minute power naps.
I encourage creativity … by getting outside and exploring, reading books and unplugging from technology.
I’ll never be able to part with … my family. I know there will come a day when my boys are older and will move on, but they will always be my children. I know that sounds cliched, but they are a huge part of who I am as a person.
When all else fails we … get outside. As a family we have always found solace in the outdoors. Being outside is calming. It really makes you realize how small you are in this world.
