“As a nursing mother it is beyond crucial I stay hydrated because she sucks it all right outta me and I’m left with hardcore desert mouth ALL THE TIME.” Rachel Zacharias, or @dear_franny, on breastfeeding, armpits and listening to female folk singers in the bath…
Rachel, 24, lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee with her husband Zach, and their daughter Franny, who is 15 months and “the best thing to ever happen to either of us”. She blogs at Franny and Pig.
Our mornings are … very mellow. We usually just hang out around the house reading stories or playing for a little bit, while I sip coffee or tea and we slowly wake up to greet the new day.
My kid mainly wears … onesies or just a diaper or a dress that I want her to wear. Franny definitely prefers just a onesie or diaper, but all the frilly dresses are so sweet and I love seeing her in them! Guilty mom pleasure, I suppose. Some of my very favorite kids brands are Born Savage, Igor and Me, and Dear Emme.
I cope with clutter by … hmmmmm… ignoring it? No, I’m joking. Kinda. Well I usually try to organize and declutter as best I can either in the mornings with Franny’s “help” or when/if Franny falls asleep in the baby carrier. It all kind of depends on the day.
I never leave the house without … my water bottle. As a nursing mother it is beyond crucial I stay hydrated because she sucks it all right outta me and I’m left with hardcore desert mouth ALL THE TIME.
When no one’s looking I … hahaha, sniff my armpits? I don’t know. Probably a lot of stuff that is very embarrassing.
I encourage creativity … by being outside, a lot. I try to point out things like the trees and clouds. We haven’t really started drawing or anything with Franny yet, mainly because I think she would eat all of the markers and crayons, but I am so anxious to start.
I’ll never be able to part with … probably my phone, only because it is so convenient to take photos and look up recipes with, read the news or random articles, and it can play relaxing melodies to help put Franny (and me) to sleep.
When all else fails we … go for a walk outside, take a drive to the store, or hop in the tub together with lots and lots of toys and soothing female folk.
